Q: Is TCM a fiduciary?

Yes, Troop Capital acts as a fee only Registered Investment Advisor. This means that TCM is legally and ethically obligated to act in your best interest at all times. We receive zero compensation from custodians or third parties. Our only financial relationship is with you as our client.

Q: What does fee only mean and why does it matter?

Fee only means that Troop Capital does not receive commissions, referral payments or product incentives. Instead, there is a flat transparent fee that is charged to our clients. This matters as it eliminates most conflicts of interest that are present with larger institutions. When we recommend something, it is because it is right for you and your specific financial objectives.

Q: Are there any hidden fees I should know about?

None – Troop Capital’s fee only structure means that the number we quote is the number you pay. We have no financial relationship with our custodians, fund companies or third-party platforms that would create undisclosed compensation. Our form ADV is always available upon request and is listed on the SEC’s public database.

Q: What does In Servitio ad Deum mean and why is it your motto?

In Servitio ad Deum is Latin for In Service to God. It is not a marketing tagline or a ploy to bring in new clients. This motto is the operating conviction behind every decision that we make at Troop Capital Management. We believe that the stewardship of wealth is a divinely inspired responsibility. Our values of integrity from within, respect for others, courage in adversity, service above self and teamwork set a new standard for financial planner Dallas TX based firms.

Q: Do I have to share your faith to work with TCM?

Not at all – while our motto of In Servitio ad Deum reflect the conviction that drives everything we do, TCM serves clients of all backgrounds and beliefs. What our faith guides is radical transparency, unconflicted advice and general care for client outcomes. This modality of thinking benefits every client regardless of their religious views. You don’t have to share our faith to benefit from what it produces.

Q: What types of clients does TCM serve?

Troop Capital Management is the financial planner Dallas TX families as well as municipalities and institutional clients choose when they are ready to expect more from their financial partner. Our clients share a common thread – they want a time tested portfolio manager and financial advisor who can deliver results and a firm whose incentives are completely aligned. The Troop Capital difference is felt from the first encounter and the financial results instil lasting confidence as we work towards your goals.

Q: Why did you leave JP Morgan to start TCM?

After 11 years at JP Morgan, managing a book of business that was $10.4 billion in size, it became clear that the institutional structure was built around the firm’s interests as opposed to the clients. Troop Capital was founded to eliminate that tension entirely. Walking away from financial security wasn’t a comfortable choice – it was the only honest one. As the financial planner Dallas TX deserves, TCM was built from the ground up on the conviction that when client and firm interests align, long-term success is inevitable.

Q: How is TCM different from a large wirehouse or bank advisor?

There are endless differences between Troop Capital and large wirehouses or a bank advisor. However, the most important is that at a wirehouse, the advisor sits inside a machine that is designed to generate firm revenue. Products are curated out of New York. Quotas exist and conflicts of interest are managed as opposed to fully eliminated. At Troop Capital, we are completely aligned with our clients. We strive to create long-term partnerships as we work to achieve financial goals of those who have entrusted TCM with their assets.

Q: What is TCM’s investment philosophy?

We believe markets move in cycles and that preparation creates advantage. Our process is built around identifying where we are in the cycle — and positioning ahead of the turn, not after it. We bring institutional-grade research, macro cycle analysis, and decisive tactical execution to every portfolio we manage.

Q: What is the minimum to work with TCM?

TCM works with clients whose complexity matches our capabilities. We focus on institutional clients, family offices, municipalities, and families with significant assets who are looking for a long-term strategic partnership rather than a transactional relationship. That being said, we do not have a stated minimum.

Q: What is the process for getting started with Troop Capital?

The first step is scheduling a 30-minute conversation. No pitch. No obligation. Just a direct discussion about what you’re trying to accomplish and whether TCM is the right firm to help you get there. If we’re the right fit, you’ll know it in the first conversation.

Q: How does TCM make investment decisions?

Our process combines institutional-grade macro research, cycle analysis, and tactical portfolio management. We study where markets are in their cycles — not just where they have been — and position portfolios ahead of the turn rather than reacting after it. Every decision is documented, explainable, and traceable back to a specific thesis. As your financial planner Dallas TX, we will always tell you why we own what we own.

Q: How do you handle market volatility?

We prepare for it rather than react to it. Volatility is not a disruption to our process — it is where our process proves itself. Our clients receive clear, timely communication during turbulent markets because we believe an informed client is a client who can stay the course when it matters most. The financial planner Dallas TX deserves doesn’t manage your panic. They eliminate the need for it.

Q: Do you use proprietary investment models?

TCM utilizes a combination of proprietary macro cycle analysis, third-party institutional research, and fundamental analysis to construct and manage portfolios. We are not wedded to any single model or methodology — we are wedded to getting the right answer for each client’s specific situation. Flexibility and conviction are not opposites. At TCM they coexist in every portfolio we manage.

Q: How often will you communicate with me about my portfolio?

Regularly — and proactively. You will never have to wonder what is happening in your portfolio or why. TCM provides scheduled quarterly reviews, written market updates, and real-time communication whenever the market demands it. If something significant changes in your portfolio or in the macro environment, you will hear from us before you read about it anywhere else.

Q: Do you manage alternative investments?

Yes. TCM has experience across a broad range of asset classes including equities, fixed income, real assets, commodities, and select alternatives. For qualified investors, we can access institutional-grade alternative strategies that are typically unavailable at traditional advisory firms. As a financial planner Dallas TX serving institutions and family offices, access to the full capital markets toolkit is essential to delivering the outcomes our clients expect.
